This was put together at patients' request. The check up combines a musculo-skeletal assessments with general health check and aims to give you a full report with advice to help you improve and maintain your health.

It includes a full case history (including working environment, sports and dietary intake); examinations of the major systems by diagnostic tests (pulse, blood pressure, lung examination, heart sounds) and musculo-skeletal assessment (orthopaedic tests, muscle tone, spinal check, flexibility, posture & neurological tests such as reflexes, muscle balance & nerve sensation). Also included is a urine test for the presence of proteins (possible indicator of diabetes) and white/red blood cells (signs of kidney/bladder infection). In addition blood sugar and cholesterol levels will also be checked.

The check-up can be tailored to your needs whether you want advice on how to help yourself reduce the chance of conditions that run in the family or whether you just want to work on your flexibility to improve your sport.

If any musculo-skeletal problems are observed in the assessment, time allowing and with your consent, treatment can be started. If any of the other tests indicate other possible problems then you can be referred back to your GP for any further investigations or monitoring.

You can opt out of any of the above components should you wish to but unfortunately the cost cannot be reduced.

The Health Check is non invasive & the cholesterol/blood sugar tests are done via pin-prick tests and not by hypodermic needles.
